Sounding Board

Christopher Hill, the IAP’s Web Master, has some thoughts – and real data – on the use of the IAP Consultants’ Register that will interest members.

The IAP Web site has the facility for consultants to list a brief CV and for members of the public to perform searches for consultants who are also IAP members. Searching is by Expertise, Town or County. This is proving to be a valuable service to members. There were over 10,000 searches made on the register in 2004. The top requests, by required skill and location, were:

CountSkillCountTown
175VB282London
117Java68Manchester
94.Net44Edinburgh
83C36Leeds
63Web28Bristol
58Delphi24Milton Keynes
56Network21Nottingham
56C#20Alton
48AS40019Northampton
48IT16Birmingham

Like all databases, this resource is only as good as the data held therein. I encourage members with entries on the Register to visit the site and check that their entries are up-to-date and showing them in the best light. If you do not have an entry, then you might consider how much work you may be missing through this omission and then add your details to the Register.
