Adults – The computer industry is often seen as an industry for young men and women. Mature applicants may find it difficult to get a foot in a door, but determination can take you a long way, if combined with suitable pre-entry training and experience.

Because computers are now used as desktop tools, some companies recruit information technologists internally from staff with experience in the business. Analytical and business skills and an aptitude for computing are required.
