NOVUS Graduate Programme

I’ve been talking to Richard Tate recently. Richard is a consultant at Capita, working on a very interesting project called NOVUS. I happened upon him because he wrote to Computing (a piece they printed as their ‘Star Letter’ on 13 January) bemoaning a particular facet of the training scene in the UK. One sentence stood out for me:

Too many businesses are still sitting and waiting for candidates with both a first class honours degree and two years of relevant industry experience to simply walk through their door.

Well, yes. And, as I remarked to him, he could have written that sentence any time in the last 45 years (maybe longer but that’s as far as my industry memory stretches) and it would have been true.
