VSJ – September 2001 – Notice Board

IAP 2001, the Annual Symposium, will be held at Trinity House on Tower Hill again this year. Unlike last year, it’s on Saturday 3 November. That’s because we had a good deal of feedback to the effect that it is easier for people to attend at a weekend.  In the most important respect, it’s just like last year – the speakers are first rate.  They include Professor Sir Roger Penrose of Oxford University, Trevor Bayliss, the well-known inventor, and Professor Gillian Lovegrove, who is Chair of the UK Conference of Professors and Heads of Computing. Brian Oakley, Chairman of the European Pathfinder Project and Past President of the BCS, will be in the chair. Tickets are £60 + VAT to IAP members and £120 + VAT to non-members. An excellent lunch, cream tea and all refreshments are included. Trinity House is an imposing venue, but it doesn’t have expanding walls, so get your tickets from the office (020 8 567 2118) as soon as possible!

Highlander Training, situated in London’s Docklands, is offering IAP members discounts of between 10 and 15% on its courses. Java for Web Developers, Fast-Track to JavaScript and Fast-Track to JSP are those most likely to be of interest, but Highlander also offer a wide range of courses in Web development tools. Email Andy Gardiner at andy@highlander.co.uk for more details.
