Future Energy Demands to Drive AI

Discussion will be taking place addressing how to correctly forecast the energy needed to deliver a twenty-fold increase in compute capacity over the next 5 years.

The Secretary of State for Science, Innovation, and Technology, Peter Kyle said:

Today’s talks will help us drive forward that mission, delivering AI infrastructure which will benefit communities up and down the country for generations to come without ever compromising on our clean energy superpower ambitions.”

Technology and Energy Secretaries from the AI Energy Council will focus on how to bring the energy grid up to speed in order to power the next wave of AI breakthroughs. Representatives from major tech and energy companies, including; Google, Microsoft, Ofgem, National Grid, EDF Energy, will be part of the conversation. £2 billion has been invested to accelerate the use of AI to boost productivity and growth across the UK.
