Spam and Erroneous Emails

We occasionally get asked whether we pass on your email addresses to 3rd parties who then send you unsolicited emails.

The simple answer is NO, we do not divulge any members email addresses to anyone.

We on occasion ourselves receive spam emails, and some of the latest are from!! Barclays, PayPal and HMRC, all of these have attachments in the form of a ZIP file, we of course delete these anyway. We would never without prior arrangement send any email with an attachment to our members, so if you receive an email that has a ZIP file and purports to be from us please ignore an delete or contact the office.

We also get emails from people pretending to be other IAP members, this can be quite annoying as they have spoofed the email address and it does look like it has come from a real IAP email address. While doing this is quite a simple matter it can be very misleading. Again unless you were expecting an email from the person check it does not have any attachments and delete if neccesary.

The IAP now sends out its subscription reminders via email a few days before the letters are printed, these are simple HTML emails with our Coat of Arms embedded into the message. Many email clients will ask if you wish to enable the image. You can set your email client to trust any emails from particular email address and allow the images to be displayed automatically.

With the launch of the e-newsletter IAPetus shortly this will also have a few images embedded in it.
