New Fellows

We are pleased to welcome the following new Fellows, who have recently been admitted to the Institution.

Gerard Byrne MSc

Gerry Byrne, ICT Manager for the Northern Ireland Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment, has wide ranging experience as an analyst and programmer in the Province going back over 20 years. In the late eighties he was Senior Systems Programmer with Short Bros in Belfast, then Systems Engineering and Consultancy Manager with BIC Systems. In 1990 he became Information Technology Manager at Howden Sirocco, with huge and varied technical responsibilities. Gerry has been with CCEA since 1996. Seven members of his team are IAP members.

Sid Martin BSc CEng

Sid graduated in Biology and Computer Science and has spent his working life in the pharmaceutical industry.  From 1987 until early in 2003 he was with Pfizer Global Research and Development. Starting as Programmer, Sid assumed escalating responsibilities as Change Manager (1995), Global Applications Consultant (1997) and Technical Team Leader (2000). From 2001, following the merger of Pfizer with Warner Lambert, he was Technical & Information Architect. When the company decided to shift all IT activity to the US, Sid elected to remain in Britain for family reasons and set up a consultancy. He has since been snapped up by GlaxoSmithKline.
